How Far in Advance Should You Book Your Wedding Hairstylist in Arizona?
You’ve chosen your wedding date, found the venue, and now the vendor search begins. Somewhere between booking your photographer and saving bridal hair inspiration, you may start wondering:
How far in advance should I actually book my wedding hairstylist?
For Arizona brides, my recommendation is to begin reaching around 9–12 months before your wedding, especially if you’re getting married during Arizona’s popular spring or fall wedding seasons.
And if there is a particular hairstylist you already know you want? There’s nothing wrong with reaching out even earlier.
Here’s why.
Arizona Wedding Dates Can Fill Earlier Than You Think
Wedding season looks a little different here in Arizona.
While summer is a popular wedding season in many parts of the country, our beautiful desert weather makes spring and fall especially desirable for Arizona weddings. Saturdays during these seasons can become competitive across Phoenix, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Glendale and the surrounding areas.
Bridal hairstylists also have limited availability.
Unlike some wedding vendors who may be able to accommodate multiple events in one day, your hairstylist may reserve a significant portion of the morning for you and your bridal party.
Once that date is booked, it may simply be unavailable for another bride.
Booking earlier gives you a better chance of choosing the hairstylist whose work and experience truly feel right for you instead of choosing based only on who still has your date available.
A Simple Bridal Hair Booking Timeline
Every wedding is different, but this is a helpful guideline for Arizona brides:
12+ Months Before
This is a wonderful time to inquire if:
You’re getting married on a popular Saturday in spring or fall
You already have a specific hairstylist you want
You have a larger bridal party
Your wedding requires travel or an early start time
Having your preferred vendors secured early gives you peace of mind
You do not need to know exactly how you want your hair styled before booking.
Your wedding date, venue and general bridal party needs are much more important at this stage.
9–12 Months Before
This is my sweet spot for most brides.
Once your venue and wedding date are confirmed, start researching bridal hairstylists whose work matches the way you want to feel on your wedding day.
Look beyond a beautiful Instagram feed.
Pay attention to experience, reviews, communication, the booking process, bridal education and whether the stylist’s approach feels aligned with the kind of wedding morning you want.
Your hairstylist isn’t just creating your hairstyle. They are also a vital part of the morning as they set the tone for the remaining of the day.
6–9 Months Before
You still have time!
There may be wonderful hairstylists available during this window, particularly for Sundays, weekdays and less in-demand dates.
However, you’ll likely start seeing less availability for popular Saturdays.
If hair is one of your priorities, I wouldn’t wait much longer simply because you haven’t decided on your exact hairstyle yet.
You can reserve the stylist before you finalize the style.
Less Than 6 Months Before
Don’t panic.
It’s absolutely still worth reaching out.
Availability will depend heavily on your wedding date, location, party size and the amount of time needed for services.
You may need to be a little more flexible, but that doesn’t mean you won’t find a wonderful fit.
Do I Need to Know My Wedding Hairstyle Before I Book?
No — and this is something I wish more brides knew.
You don’t need to decide between Hollywood waves, a romantic low bun or a textured updo before reserving your hairstylist.
That’s part of the process.
When I work with my brides, we look at much more than one inspiration photo. I consider your dress, neckline, veil or accessories, hair length and density, the Arizona weather, your venue, and most importantly, how you want to feel when you see yourself.
Your hairstyle should feel cohesive with everything else you’re creating — while still feeling like you.
What About the Bridal Hair Preview?
Your bridal preview does not need to happen when you book.
Booking secures your wedding date.
The preview comes later, when your wedding details are more developed and we can thoughtfully refine your look.
This is where we can test the style, make adjustments and determine whether things like extensions would help create the fullness, length or longevity you’re looking for.
Think of your preview as refinement — not the starting point for deciding whether to reserve your hairstylist.
What If I Think I Might Need Hair Extensions?
You don’t necessarily need to know that when you first inquire, either.
Many brides love an inspiration photo without realizing that extensions may have been used to create the fullness or dimension they’re seeing.
Extensions aren’t always about dramatically longer hair. Sometimes they’re simply the piece that gives a ponytail more fullness, helps waves look more luxurious or gives an updo enough density to create the shape you love.

You have time to communicate, plan your bridal preview, think through your accessories, make decisions about extensions if needed and create a realistic wedding-morning hair timeline.
And that preparation matters.
After more than 20 years behind the chair, I’ve learned that the most relaxed wedding mornings don’t happen by accident. They happen when there is thoughtful planning, clear communication and enough time built into the experience.
That’s the kind of morning I want for my brides.
So, When Should You Book Your Arizona Wedding Hairstylist?
If your wedding date and venue are confirmed, 9–12 months before your wedding is a great time to begin your search.
For highly popular spring and fall Saturdays, larger bridal parties or a particular stylist you already have your heart set on, reaching out 12 months or more in advance can give you the best chance of securing your first choice.
But if your wedding is only a few months away, don’t assume you’re too late.
